"I am so moved by our guests, their struggles and their courage. Volunteering and working with this population has enriched my life." -Cindy
How YOU Can Help
People often ask what they can do to help. The suggestions on this page are the easiest and simplest ways you can contribute toward winning the battle against poverty in our area and lifting our neighbors in need into a new and better life.
Donate food to your local food pantries and sign up at Take Them A Meal to sponsor an evening meal at SAM's House.
Support SAM's House by financial donations, donating supplies, or volunteering.
Volunteer your time and talents at events to raise awareness and at fund raisers. It does make a difference.
Get involved. Help educate your community about the effects of poverty and what we can do about it.
Please print and fill out the SAM25 Volunteer application, and mail to: SAM25, PO Box 147, Shawano, WI 54166
"Volunteering at the shelter just 2 mornings a week has opened my eyes to a whole other world. I can only feel blessed and grateful that I am helping to make the world a little better." -Nancy
Our volunteers are instrumental to SAM25 in carrying out its mission and in helping individuals undergoing homelessness ally with the services and resources in our community.
SAM25 volunteers partner in sharing the SAM25 story. Even when not logging volunteer hours for SAM25, they continue to support the mission by sharing in the community about the volunteer work they do and assist with the SAM25 programs that help those affected by poverty improve their circumstances to become self-sufficient.
Here are some of the ways that you can volunteer at SAM25:
Meal Hosts– Volunteers come, provide the evening shelter meal and with our COVID-19 protocols in place can safely visit with guests.
SAM's House Shelter Volunteers– volunteer at SAM's house for the morning, overnight, or intake shift, helping our guests have a safe place to sleep. All SAM's House Volunteers must fill out a Volunteer Application and have a background check before working on a shelter shift. (Please see above for the link to our Volunteer Application).
SAM25 Resource Center - Volunteer in our Resource Center to help answer phones, greet SAM25 Resource Center visitors, receive donations, and do other basic office work during Resource Center hours of Monday through Friday 9am to 2pm.
SAM25 Thrift Store – help with operation of thrift store and sorting donations.
SAM25 Community Health Clinic - Volunteer to provide basic medical care to those in our area who are uninsured and living near the poverty level. Provide health promotion and education. Assist in obtaining affordable healthcare insurance.
